Feline Leukemia
I have rescued 3 kittens (4-5) weeks old. I had them tested for FIV and leukemia today (FeLV) and the leukemia was a slight positive.
If I have them retested in 6 months is there a possibility it would be negative?
Veterinarian Response
Hi Marlene,
Yes! A single positive test can indicate an early infection. It is still possible that the cats’ immune system will be able to fight it off. Two positive tests at least 90 days apart are needed to definitively diagnose FELV.
Best of luck,
